The Indian fig flowers with scientific name Opuntia fícus-indica, is a plant also known as nopal, cactus, fig-of-india, fig-of-devil, tabaibeira, tuneira, among others belonging to the family of Cactaceae. According to experts and historians, the consumption of this plant started about 9,000 years ago. Rich in sugar and with considerable amount of potassium, magnesium, calcium and vitamins A, B1, B2 and C, this plant is used in the manufacture of some pharmaceutical products indicated for the treatment of urinary diseases, respiratory tract and as a diuretic.
Traditional Uses: Aid in the treatment of urinary infections and benign prostatic hypertrophy, having an anti-inflammatory and spasmolytic action.
Preparation: Place 2 tablespoons to 1 liter of boiled water and let it stand for 8 to 10 minutes.
Recommended Dosage: Drink 3 cups a day (morning, afternoon and evening).
Conservation method: After infusion, store in a refrigerator for up to 5 days.
