Curiosities:
Broad bean is a plant of the Fabaceae family well known for the pods with kidney-shaped beans which are called “broad bean”. On average, each pod is six to seven centimetres long and can grow more than four broad beans inside. Generally, the broad beans are green, but depending on the variety, they can be white, red, or even brown. Due to its nutritional potential, the broad bean is one of the best beans you can consume because this legume is rich in proteins, mineral salts, and fibres. It is thought that broad beans appeared about six thousand years BC.
When used in the diet as a legume, broad beans can help reinforce defences, increase energy, promote weight loss and control blood pressure. They are also associated with the prevention of skin ageing, cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis.
