Artichoke Herbal Tea

Artichoke Tea, also known as globe artichoke, made from the leaves of the Cynara scolymus plant, has long been appreciated for its potential digestive and liver-protective properties, as well as its role in supporting metabolic balance. Native to the Mediterranean region, the artichoke has been widely used both in cuisine and traditional herbal medicine.

Ingredients: 100% Artichoke plant (Cynara scolymus).

History & Curiosities

The artichoke belongs to the Compositae family, which includes around 920 genera and approximately 19,000 species. It is cultivated mainly in Europe for both culinary and medicinal purposes. The plant’s leaves are rich in phenolic compounds, flavonoids and sesquiterpenes — among which cynarin stands out as its most well-known active ingredient.

Several studies using artichoke extracts, conducted on both humans and animals, suggest possible benefits for the digestive and hepatic systems, particularly in improving gallbladder function and supporting liver health. There is also evidence of its potential to reduce cholesterol levels and provide antioxidant protection.

What is Artichoke Tea used for?

✔ Digestive support: Traditionally used to ease digestion and reduce bloating.

✔ Liver and gallbladder health: May act as a digestive tonic, promoting proper gallbladder function.

✔ Lipid regulation: Studies suggest it may help lower blood cholesterol levels.

✔ Diabetes prevention: Indications suggest regular consumption may aid glycaemic control.

✔ Weight management support: A natural ally in weight-loss regimes, thanks to its digestive and diuretic properties.
