Curiosities:

Scientifically called “Pterospartum tridentatum”, Gorse is a small, branched and spontaneous shrub belonging to the Fabaceae family. Due to its easy growth in untended terrain, Gorse is considered a weed by the general population. It is a species of herb that grows in any climate and is resistant when involved in forest fires. However, it is predominant in Portuguese, African and Spanish flora, where it reproduces easily. In Portugal, the presence of this species is common in the North and Center of the country. The flowering period is between March and June.

Gorse infusion is recommended for people suffering from cholesterol, anaemia, obesity, and rheumatism. In addition, it can help in the resolution of mouth and throat infections, fever, and kidney stones, even as in the reduction of excessive oil on the skin and hair loss. It may also contribute to intestinal regulation. It is potent in detoxifying liver, bladder, kidney, and pancreas problems.

You can use the Gorse infusion to flavour the rice and season the meat.
