What is Rooibos tea?

Rooibos is a shrub unique to South Africa. It is also known as Red Tea because of its colour, however, it should not be confused with Pu Erh Red Tea (Camellia sinensis). Rooibos tea does not contain theine and can therefore be taken by anyone. It is a tea that does not become bitter if it is steeped for too long.

Curiosities:

Lemongrass - originally from Central America and Southeast Asia, the lemongrass belongs to the Poaceae family and is highly appreciated in the Caribbean, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia. This delicious rustic herb is adept in mild environments with the presence of humidity and good sun exposure. In several countries, it is used as a vegetable and aromatic herb in various culinary dishes combined with grated coconut, curry, fish, ginger and meat. Fast-growing lemongrass is a plant that contributes to physical and mental well-being. Lemongrass tea is recommended for hot and cold days.

Lemongrass contains about 70% citral essential oil rich in vitamin A, equal to that found in lemon and orange peel. It can help fight excessive sweating and even mitigate the effects of the athlete's foot. You can also use it as an insect repellent. In Suriname (a South American country), this wonderful herb is used to fight cough, asthma, headaches and fever. While in the West, it is used as a digestive tonic and natural calming of the nervous system.

Orange Peel - According to historical accounts, the first orange trees appeared in India over 7000 years ago. It must have been in the 10th century that the first orange trees were produced for medicinal purposes in China. The orange peel can contribute to the improvement of blood circulation, delaying the appearance of varicose veins. It can fight the aggravation of flu, and even as reduce cholesterol and abdominal swelling.

You can use orange peels in the garden as a repellent against slugs.
