In Egyptian antiquity, chicory was used to treat determined pathologies and vegetables, even as a substitute for coffee. To enjoy the properties of chicory, the Egyptians ground the roots, flowers, and leaves. Thanks to the presence of about 30 antioxidant compounds, chicory can help to strengthen your defences. It may also contribute to the elimination of gastrointestinal gases and the reduction of anxiety.

Artichoke Plant – this is a plant belonging to the “Compositae” family that comprises about 920 genera with an approximate value of 19,000 species. This species comes from the Mediterranean, where its cultivation is done through seeds and spread around the world for medicinal and food purposes. In folk medicine, the artichoke tea leaves are indicated for difficult digestion and eliminating accumulated gases. It can also act as a digestive tonic that will improve the functioning of the gallbladder and increase the flow of bile.

Water temperature: 100º

Infusion time: 5 to 10 minutes.

Recommended quantity: 2 cups during main meals and at bedtime.

Method of preparation: place 2 tablespoons in a litre (1L) of boiled water in a container. Cover it and let it rest for about 5 to 10 minutes.

Store in a cool (max. 20º) and dry place (max. 60% humidity).

Warnings: this tea should not be consumed by pregnant women or women who breastfeed. Excessive consumption can cause gastric and intestinal discomfort.
