What is Fenugreek?

Fenugreek, also known as Trigonella, is a type of spice appreciated in Oriental cuisine. Beyond borders, Fenugreek seeds are the basis of Curry, the famous culinary dish of Indian origin. It is also used in salads and to flavour cheeses in North Africa.

Fenugreek is considered to be one of the oldest natural species used in human food and for medicinal purposes. In the Ancient Ottoman Empire, women consumed roasted Fenugreek seeds to obtain a slim body. In Egypt, they were also used as a paste on the skin to reduce fever.
