Dried Apricots

Did you know that the Dried Apricot was one of the foods chosen for the astronauts' diet in the Apollo 15 Mission? This choice was due to the high concentration of nutrients it contains such as vitamins A and C, iron, potassium, and fibre. If you practice sport, use it as a snack between meals.

Ingredients: 100% Dried apricot (Prunus armeniaca) and preservative (E220-SULFITES).

How to make Dried Apricot Tea

Take 10 dried apricots, slice them, and put them in a pan with 1 L (1000ml) of cold water. Bring to the boil and boil for 8 to 10 minutes. Finally, remove and strain. Wait a few minutes for the tea to cool down a little before drinking.

Curiosities:

Apricot is a fruit highly recommended for digestive and intestinal functioning. When eaten in its dry state, it acts as an authentic natural laxative because it has a high concentration of soluble fibres. It is an excellent ally to improve digestion and treat constipation. In only one unit of dried apricot, you will enjoy 12% of the daily dose of fibre. Other sources recommend the consumption of dried apricot to prevent anaemia, diarrhoea and cardiovascular diseases.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is known to have regenerative action due to its antioxidant potential. By promoting the transport of oxygen to cells, it contributes to the improvement of blood circulation. Its sweet taste is the result of the high content of glucose, sucrose, and fructose. Hence, its frequent use in desserts, yoghurts, and infusions.

Today, the largest producers of fresh apricot are China, Italy, and Greece.
