Ingredients: 100% Clitoria ternatea flowers.
Clitoria ternatea is very blue pea or butterfly pea and is a species of plant belonging to the Fabaceae family.
Derived from a plant common to most countries in Southeast Asia, Blue Tea has been produced for centuries, but it has only recently been introduced into the trade of tea consumers outside the indigenous area. Blue Tea gains its distinctive hue with the deep blue color of the petals, making the plant a very popular natural color for centuries.
One of its points of attraction is the fact that the liquid changes color based on the pH level of the added substance, for example, if you add lemon juice to the tea it will immediately turn a lilac color.
For a fiery atmosphere, add hibiscus petals and watch the blue color change to a bright fuchsia.
In India, it is revered as a sacred flower, used in daily puja rituals. The flowers of this vine were imagined in the form of human female genitals, hence the Latin name of the genus "Clitoria", of "clitoris". The species name is thought to derive from the island of Ternate in the Indonesian archipelago, from which the Linnaeus specimens originated.
Blue tea has wonderful benefits it confers, for human health, such as promoting weight loss, detoxifying the body, pacifying the mind, enriching skin texture and improving hair growth.
The tea is rich in antioxidants, which makes it a great beverage to include in your detox diet, especially in summer. Antioxidants protect the body against free radical action. Free radicals are harmful substances which can damage healthy cells in the body. Drinking a cup of blue tea once or twice a week on an empty stomach flushes out toxins accumulated in the system and vastly improves digestive health.
The earthy flavour of butterfly-pea flower tea is said to be a mood enhancer. The tea is said to have stress-busting effects that may also help reduce symptoms of anxiety. It is also known to refresh the brain, bolster energy levels and stamina, influence positive emotions and thereby increase productivity at work. Blue tea is also a great stress-buster, alleviating symptoms of anxiety and depression.
For me, it is a really a mood enhancing tea and I expect it to do more after each drinking, for health improvements as mentioned in the description :)
