Curiosities:
Bergamot is a small citrus fruit whose fruit has a shape slightly similar to that of a pear. This species is limited to the coast of the province of Calabria (Italy) which is why it is the representative symbol of the region. Although, it is also cultivated in Argentina, Brazil and Georgia. However, it is believed that the best quality fruits are only produced in Calabria due to the presence of clay, lime and alluvial deposits in the soil. In the manufacture of Early Grey, the essence of bergamot bark is extracted as an aromatic element.
The term “bergamot” comes from the Turkish name “beg armudi” which, translates, means “prince's pear”. Bergamot is a powerful fruit rich in vitamin A, with multiple different denominations. According to historical records, the bergamot may have existed longer than the orange. This fruit is easy to produce, adaptable to any climate and resistant. Due to its penetrating aroma, bergamot essence is widely used in aromatherapy to reduce depression, anxiety, and stress. Favouring a good mood. In the UK, Early Grey is a popular breakfast or afternoon drink.
