The Lemon Verbena (Aloysia citrodora) is a species of the Verbenaceae family, native to South America (Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Bolivia, and Peru). It was introduced in Europe by the Spanish and Portuguese in the 17th century. In the Algarve, it is called "beautiful luísa" and in other parts of Portugal it has the common name of "limonete".
