Gymnema Sylvestris "Gurmar" Herbal Tea
The Gymnema sylvestris "Gurnar" is a plant native to Asia, Australia and Africa and widely used in Ayurvedic alternative medicine.
Ingredients: 100% Gymnema "Gurmar" leaves (Gymnema sylvestris).
Curiosities:
This plant is mainly known for helping to treat diabetes due to the gymnemic acids in its composition. It is also used in folk medicine to help treat asthma, eye problems and inflammation. In addition, some recent studies suggest that formulations of gymnemic acid may be useful against obesity.
In Hindi culture, the plant is known as ‘gurmar’, which means ‘sugar destroyer’.
What Gymnema sylvestris is Used for
Reducing blood sugar - Gymnema has a hypoglycaemic action that can help reduce the absorption of sugar in the intestines and consequently reduce blood sugar levels.
Diabetes control - Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties can help regenerate endocrine cells in the pancreas, stimulating insulin production.
Helps with weight loss: By reducing sugar absorption, Gymnema can be an ally in weight loss when combined with healthy habits.
Lowers cholesterol - Gymnema's antioxidant and hypolipidemic action can help lower levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides, as well as increasing good cholesterol (HDL).
Water temperature: 100º
Infusion time: 5 to 10 minutes.
Recommended quantity: 1 tablespoon of Gymnema leaves in a litre of water (1L).
Dosage: up to 3 cups a day.
Preparation:
- Pour 1 dessertspoon of Gymnema leaves into 1 litre of boiled water.
- Leave to stand for 10 minutes.
- Strain and drink the tea warm throughout the day.
