Devil's Claw Tea

Scientifically called “Harpagophytum procumbens”, the Devil's Claw is a medicinal plant originally from Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa.

Ingredients: 100% Devil's Claw in the root (Harpagophytum procumbens Dec.)

Devil's Claw is a medicinal plant originally from the Kalahari Desert of Southern Africa belonging to the Pedaliaceae family. The tubers of this creeping plant are often used in France and Germany for medicinal purposes due to their analgesic, antioxidant, anti-rheumatic, healing, digestive stimulant and anti-inflammatory properties. The size of the Devil's Claw ranges from 20 to 50 cm in length, and the tubers are responsible for storing almost 70% of the water that this plant contains. Although there is not enough evidence, Devil's Claw may contribute to delaying the premature ageing of cells through its antioxidant action.

Several scientific studies have detected the presence of more than 40 active components at the root of Devil's Claw. Due to the large part of these medicinal properties, consuming Devil's Claw tea is recommended for people suffering from fibromyalgia. In addition, it may not cause serious side effects even over the recommended consumption dose. Devil's Claw may help reduce uric acid, fevers, abdominal discomfort and allergies. It can also improve appetite, cholesterol, poor digestion and symptoms caused by inflammatory diseases by reducing pain. It can also help with gastrointestinal disorders and alleviate possible difficulties during childbirth.

Devil's Claw roots are used to prepare tea and plasters.
