Did you know that Juniper berries take 3 years to ripen? The shrub Juniperus communis, better known as Juniper, reproduces easily in parts of Europe and Norway.  These small berries are commonly used in the preparation of infusions, cooking recipes, and to flavour drinks. When used in infusion, it has a calming, draining, and digestive action.

“Around the year 1650, the physician and teacher Francisco de la Boie was researching a remedy that could alleviate some kidney problems. By mixing juniper and grain distillate, the then “medicine” became better known as gin a few years later.”

What is Juniper Berry Tea good for

Juniper Berry Tea is rich in antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and diuretic properties that actively influence the well-being of the stomach and respiratory system. Acting as a natural expectorant, it helps to eliminate phlegm, contributing to the relief of sore throats and improving breathing. In addition, Juniper Berry Tea helps to reduce fluid retention, treat cellulite and reduce acid reflux. It is also indicated to treat muscle inflammation.

Other uses: fever, rheumatism, bad breath, intestinal inflammations, hyperactivity, flu, anxiety, insomnia, nervousness, low immunity, cramps, asthma, bronchitis, and urinary infections.

Water temperature: 100º

Infusion time: 5 minutes

Recommended quantity: Approx. 1 teaspoon of Juniper berries per cup (240ml) or 1 tablespoon per 1L (1000ml) of tea.

Dosage: Drink 3 to 4 cups per day.

How to prepare Juniper Berry Tea: place 1 teaspoon of Juniper Berries in a cup and boiled water. Then, cover it and let it infuse for 5 minutes. Finally, strain and allow to cool slightly before drinking. For best results, practise a healthy lifestyle.

Store in a cool, dry place away from light.
