What is Rooibos Tea?

Rooibos is a shrub unique to South Africa. Also known as red tea because of its colour, it should not be confused with Pu Erh Tea (Camellia sinensis). Rooibos Tea is theine-free tea that can be drunk by everyone. This tea does not turn bitter if left to brew for too long. Our Rooibos or Red Bush contains a high concentration of flavonoids, which makes it a powerful detox ingredient for those who want to lose weight. Post-workout, Rooibos Tea is an excellent ally for recovering from the damage caused by injuries. Besides, it helps to hydrate the organism and to reinforce the defences.

The species “Aspalathus linearis” is cultivated by 400 local growers, exclusively in the beautiful South African Cederberg Mountains. The term “linearis” is derived from the fact that the leaves of Rooibos grow in a long, pointed shape. Rooibos Tea is usually consumed with a slice of lemon, honey and sugar in this country. It is also customary for people to reuse the same infusion and reheat it during the first 48 hours. Most of the exportation is to the United States of America and Germany.

Curiosities:

Almond is a seed of the fruit of the Almond Tree, a well-known tree in the Rosaceae family. This powerful oilseed is rich in mineral salts (magnesium, copper, phosphorus, iron, zinc, calcium, and manganese), vitamin E, vitamin B2, fibre, proteins and healthy fats.

Almond grows in soils with temperate climates, hence its high production in countries such as Afghanistan, Australia, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. Although its origin is unknown, it is believed that the almond began to be consumed by navigators during the Silk Road period.
