The Epilobio plant commonly known in Britain as "rosebay willowherb" and the common American name is "fireweed"., with the scientific name Epilobium angustifolium, is popularly known for the treatment of prostate inflammation.

Epilobio: Benefits

Treatment of prostate diseases - Epilobio has the ability to inhibit certain enzymes that are related to benign prostatic hyperplasia, which can regulate the growth of prostate tissue and relieve the area.

Epilobio Herbal Tea

Preparation: 

Water temperature: 100º

Infusion time: 5 to 10 minutes.

Recommended quantity: 3 to 4 tablespoons in a litre of water (1L).

Dosage: 3 to 4 cups a day, outside of meals.

Warnings: Consumption of this plant should be avoided by pregnant women or infants, as well as anyone with hypersensitivity to the plant's active ingredients.

Infusion with Willowherb Plant (Epilobium angustifolium)

Predominant Flavour: Mildly herbal and slightly astringent

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon of Epilobium, Herb (5g)
  • 1 teaspoon of Chamomile, Flowers (1g)
  • 1 teaspoon of Lemongrass, Leaves (1g)

Preparation:

  1. Boil 300 ml of water.
  2. Place the Epilobium in a cup and pour the hot water over it.
  3. Add the Chamomile and Lemongrass.
  4. Cover and let it steep for 10 minutes.
  5. Strain and serve.

Flavour Balance: The slightly bitter and astringent taste of Epilobium is softened by the floral sweetness of Chamomile and the fresh citrus notes of Lemongrass.

I use these in both tea and tincture. A very powerful herb but I wish it was possible to also purchase just the dried leaves. This is all the arial
parts of the plant which includes stems and stalks.
