Chicory plant

Chicory or Cichorium intybus is a long-lived plant that grows to just over a metre tall. This plant grows very easily in regions with temperate climates, being found in abundance in North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. The flowering period is usually between July and September.

When used in infusion, Chicory helps to protect the liver and gallbladder, even to treat digestive disorders. 

Ingredients: 100% Chicory plant (Cichorium intybus) from the Asteraceae family.

Benefits of Chicory Herbal Tea

Chicory Herbal Tea is a medicinal tea indicated for weight loss, loss of appetite, indigestion, joint pain, flatulence, uric acid and anxiety. You can use it as a diuretic, blood purifying and laxative tea. In the case of diabetics, Chicory Herbal Tea can be an excellent ally to combat excessive thirst.

Curiosities:

Chicory roots were once used as a substitute for coffee and also as a vegetable when eaten whole. In Greco-Roman antiquity, Chicory leaves were added to salads to extract the plant's properties. Chicory is produced in countries such as Germany, Belgium, and Spain.

Water temperature: 100º

Infusion time: 5 to 10 minutes.

Recommended quantity: Approx. 4 teaspoons of Chicory per 1 litre (1000ml) of water.

How to prepare: place 4 teaspoons of Chicory in a pan with 1 litre of boiled water. Cover and leave to infuse for 5 to 10 minutes. Finally, strain and allow to cool slightly before drinking. For best results, practise a healthy lifestyle.

Dosage: Drink 3 to 4 cups a day, outside the main meals.

Store in a cool, dry place away from light.

Warnings: This plant should be avoided by pregnant women or babies, even by anyone with hypersensitivity to the active principles of the plant.
