What is Green Tea Gunpowder?
Green Tea Gunpowder is the original and most common variety of green tea with larger pearls that produce a truly aromatic infusion. The name “Gunpowder” is because the rolled leaves look like small balls of gunpowder. Hailing from Hangzhou, Gunpowder is indeed one of the best high-quality green teas. In the manufacture of Green Tea Gunpowder, the leaves are rolled by machines to reduce physical contact with the leaves to preserve their benefits and properties. Something that was not practiced in the past. Since the Tang Dynasty, the leaves were rolled by hand, a condition that did not favour the preservation of the characteristics of this tea.
