Curiosities:

Lemon balm - Lemon balm is a plant native to Western Asia and the Eastern Mediterranean. Today, it is mainly cultivated in Europe, where the temperate climate favours its growth.

Used for centuries for medicinal purposes, lemon balm has also proven useful in beekeeping: honey producers used to rub the leaves on hives to stimulate production and aid pollination. Its abundant flowers also helped locate hives and attract other pollinators.

In the 10th century, the Arabs considered this plant effective in relieving sadness and bad mood.

If you're wondering what lemon balm tea is good for, know that this natural infusion is known for its calming effect, helping to fight insomnia, cramps, stomach aches, anxiety and stress. It can also be useful in cases of headaches, bloating and muscle tension.

Rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, lemon balm supports the immune system, as well as skin and heart health. To relax at night, it is recommended to drink the tea about 30 minutes before bedtime.

Water temperature: 100º

Infusion time: 4 to 5 minutes.

Method of preparation: place a teabag for every cup of boiled water. Let it rest and you can consume it immediately, hot or cold.

Recommended quantity: 1 cup after each main meal and before going to bed.

Store in a dry (max. 20º) and cool (max. 60% humidity) place.

Warnings: recent studies show that lemon balm tea should not be consumed by people taking thyroid medication due to the risk of inhibiting the absorption of substances present in the medications taken.
