What is Rooibos tea?
Rooibos is a shrub native to South Africa. By its colour, it is also called red tea (although it should not be confused with red tea Purim from the camellia sinensis plant). Rooibos tea does not have any type of teina and can be taken by anyone.
In South Africa, this tea is usually consumed with sugar or honey and a slice of lemon. Rooibos tea has a high rate of anti-oxidants beneficial to the body. By being rich in flavonoids, it helps in lowering bad cholesterol and regulates blood pressure. It is considered a moderate diuretic.
