5 delicious cocoa teas you must try!
In many cultures, particularly in the West, chocolate is a symbol of comfort and affection. This makes it a common gift on all kinds of occasions, and one of the most consumed sweets. Made from cocoa, this sweet fits in with any occasion and time of year.
But did you know that you can also use it in your tea? There are a wide variety of blends with cocoa in their composition that are absolutely delicious. Shall we learn a little more about cocoa and our chocolate teas? Read on!
Cocoa: where it comes from and its benefits
Cocoa is a fruit from the cacao tree, native to South America. For this fruit to be consumed, it is customary to separate the beans from the seeds, then ferment, dry and roast the beans. After this process, they are ready to produce butter, liquor or cocoa powder, from which chocolate and other cocoa-based products are then made.
Cocoa is rich in antioxidants, which help protect cells, and magnesium, which is important for cardiovascular, muscle and bone health. In addition, cocoa is stimulating and energising, due to the presence of a small amount of caffeine in its composition. Studies suggest that cocoa has similar effects to opium, acting as an antidepressant and increasing well-being.
Although chocolate itself is high in calories, chocolate infusions and teas can be a delicious way to consume it in a healthier way. Whether made with camellia sinensis (real tea) or herbal infusions, any chocolate tea has the potential to become one of your favourites.
