What is Rooibos Tea?

Rooibos is a shrub unique to South Africa. Also known as red tea because of its colour, it should not be confused with Pu Erh Tea (Camellia sinensis). Rooibos Tea is theine-free tea that can be drunk by everyone. This tea does not turn bitter if left to brew for too long. Our Rooibos or Red Bush contains a high concentration of flavonoids, which makes it a powerful detox ingredient for those who want to lose weight. Post-workout, Rooibos Tea is an excellent ally for recovering from the damage caused by injuries. Besides, it helps to hydrate the organism and to reinforce the defences.

The species “Aspalathus linearis” is cultivated by 400 local growers, exclusively in the beautiful South African Cederberg Mountains. The term “linearis” is derived from the fact that the leaves of Rooibos grow in a long, pointed shape. Rooibos Tea is usually consumed with a slice of lemon, honey and sugar in this country. It is also customary for people to reuse the same infusion and reheat it during the first 48 hours. Most of the exportation is to the United States of America and Germany.

Curiosities:

Cloves are the flowers bud of the tree Syzygium aromaticum native to the Maluku Islands (Indonesia). Normally, the harvest of these buds is done manually. Often associated with dental health, the Chinese may have used cloves for 400 years BC. According to cultural records, chewing this spice was quite common on the part of the subjects when requested by the Emperor. This was because it helped to reduce bad breath.

Today, cloves are widely grown in tropical and subtropical countries such as Madagascar, Mozambique, and India. However, Tanzania is the world's largest producer of this spice.

Great quality roibos tea

I’m a first time customer to this store and bought a few different teas. I liked all of them, and my favorite is this roibos tea. It has a rich taste and flavour, I enjoy it best before going to sleep (and whenever I like to treat myself with a good cup of tea). Also, I sent this tea as a gift to my friends, would like to share my discovery.
